(Electronic version of the presentation given by Rear Admiral M. K. Loose, thanking the Armed Forces Services Corporation for their assistance in the wake of the 9/11 tragedy and presenting the company with the Lone Sailor plaque)

Mr. Snyder, ladies and gentlemen, I am truly humbled and honored to be here today to recognize the selfless devotion of the Armed Forces Services Corporation. Following the tragic events of September 11th, the Armed Forces Services Corporation has shown this great Nation how to transform compassion into human grace by greatly aiding the Pentagon Family Assistance Center.

On this tragic day when the Navy lost 47 personnel, the Armed Forces Services Corporation was there for us. Your team's patriotism, sacrifice, and selfless service provided round-the-clock support to the grieving families trying to cope with their devastating and unexpected loss. Ladies and gentlemen, you truly stood the watch. You served as a single-source facility to answer questions and to respond to needs related to rescue and recovery operations, financial [situation], benefits and compensation, and grief counseling. In addition, you provided an extraordinary and unexpected service. You quickly and continuously provided counseling and assistance to all of our appointed Casualty Assistance Officers in the performance of their duties. Thank you so very much for this special added service as words cannot express the tremendous, positive impact you had on our families and CAOs. Your volunteers selflessly worked round-the-clock in an extremely stressful environment to serve the needs of our Navy families… and for this, we are forever in your debt.

At this time I would like to present a letter from Mr. Gordon England, Secretary of the Navy, and Admiral Vern Clark, Chief of Naval Operations. (Link to News200112002) I would also like to present a plaque of the Lone Sailor with an inscription, "With Enduring Gratitude from the Navy Family, the Pentagon, September 11, 2001."

In conclusion, thank you and may God bless each and every one of you, as He as blessed America with your services.
